Welcome to Night Eye Guardian Sendior Design Team Website
Welcome to Night Eye Guardian Senior Design Project. This project is being executed by Computer Enginering students at Iowa State University.
Night Eye Guardian based on idea of Adan Cervantes, founder of SidsKnowMore.org, which involves monitoring babies using widely available devices.
Our system consists of Foscam FI8918w IP camera and IOBridge system with thermometer and fluxgate magnetometer. These devices will record videos, temperature and magnetic field.
What is SIDS
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the unexpected sudden death of an infant – ages under 18 months old – that has no medical history issues and whose i death remains unexplained even after a thorough forensic autopsy and detailed death scene investigation. As infants are at the highest risk for SIDS during sleep, it is sometimes referred to as cot death or crib death.
The cause of SIDS is still unknown, but some characteristics associated with the syndrome have been identified. The unique signature characteristic of SIDS is its log-normal age distribution that spares infants shortly after birth — the time of maximal risk for almost all other causes of non-trauma infant death. Sadly, on the average there are about seven (7) SIDS infant deaths per day – or about 2,500 deaths per year in the USA alone.
